Teaching & Learning

Don't hang about!

Three years of GP training will come and go far more quickly than you expect. Remember that the more enthusiastically you approach things, the more you will learn and the more you will enjoy the process.

At your Tuesday Day Release the teaching is varied to balance the differing learning needs of trainees, this will involve case discussions, lecture style learning, small group work, role play, problem based learning and so on.

In addition to the Tuesday teaching and studying for your exams, there are many other opportunities for you to take up during your training. It can be hard to focus on these whilst studying for exams, but we do encourage trainees to use their self-directed learning time to do things like observing hospital clinics or community based clinics, filling gaps in knowledge or pursuing areas of special interest and finding out about General Practice and Primary care in different practices and contexts.
